The Delhi Capitals (DC) recently lost a fascinating encounter against the Royal Challengers Bangalore by a single run, and they do not have much time to dwell on it as up next for them is an encounter with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who got a superb win against the Punjab Kings. IPL Team Preview: Delhi Captitals

The DC did plenty right in their last match versus the RCB, but they still went on to lose. A lot of the blame has to be put on Rishab Pant who played an uncharacteristically slow innings of 58 runs from 48 balls. However, this is something that can happen to the best players and the DC batsmen have been pretty decent so far. We also believe that they got their team selection spot on in the last match by replacing Lalit Yadav with Ishant Sharma.

With Amit Mishra and Avesh Khan in great bowling form, Kagiso Rabada getting back to his best, and Axar Patel back in the side, the DC have excellent bowlers to call upon. It was a bit weird that Marcus Stoinis was given the last over, and this proved to be the difference in the end.

We said that the DC batsmen have been in good form and that is true, but this does not apply to Steve Smith, who has been struggling to score any runs of note. The pressure is definitely increasing and he will need to score runs soon or risk being dropped from the side.

The team, as a whole, are moving in the correct direction and their last loss will not worry them.

IPL Team Preview: Kolkatta Knight Riders

The KKR bowlers put in an excellent performance against the PK, restricting them to just 123 runs on the best batting wicket that we have seen in the competition so far. Sunil Narine, Shivam Mavi, and Prasiddh Krishna all showcased their skills. The KKR kept the same XI that has been playing throughout, and it paid off against the PK.

However, we do not think it is wise to carry on being this rigid as there are some obvious weaknesses in their team. The like of Shubman Gil and Nitish Rana are not in great form, while Narine has struggled with the bat for a while now. Also, their captain, Eoin Morgan, has struggled to score runs, although he did this time around.

The likes of Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russel, and Pat Cummins all have one good batting innings to their name, meaning that the whole batting lineup is a bit wobbly. However, they seem better suited to bat on bouncier wickets, which is why there is a good chance they can give the DC a run for their money.

Toss Prediction

The captain that wins the toss is going to want to bat second as there is quite a lot of dew that comes down in the evening. Also, both of these teams much prefer to chase, which is why winning the coin toss is something that should be seen as an advantage.

Pitch and Conditions

The wicket at Ahmedabad is good for batting, but there is some assistance available to the bowlers. The ball might start to stick in the pitch to start with, but batting becomes easier as the game wears on. This is yet another reason why the team that wins the toss will likely decide to bat second. A score of about 170 is considered to be about par on this pitch.
