The two franchises that were the favouries to win the IPL 2022 will take on each other in the 59th match of the Indian Premier League, and it is fair to say that neither side has had the campaign that they would have hoped for. We are hoping that these two struggling sides bring out the best in each other and that we are treated to yet another entertaining game of cricket. Below is our prediction of who will win the game.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

The Chennai Super Kings are sitting in 9th spot in the table with four wins from 11 games, meaning that they have eight points and are six points adrift of a play-off spot. They are, somehow, still in with a shot of making it to the Play-Offs, but they will have to win their remaining three matches and hope that other results go in their favour if they are to sneak in through the back door.

Their last match of the campaign was against the Delhi Capitals, and they went on to win the match by a whopping 91 runs to keep their chances of a Play-Off spot and also improve their Net Run Rate, which could be vital come the end of the Group Stage. The DC won the toss and decided to field first, so it was up to the CSK batsmen to put a huge total on the board, and this is exactly what they did.

From their 20 overs, they managed to smash 208 runs, and this was mostly thanks to an awesome opening partnership of 110 between Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad. The former has been in fine form as of late, and smashed 87 off 49 balls, while Gaikwad scored 41 from 33 balls. Shivam Dube chipped in with 32 from 19, while MS Dhoni added 21 from 8 towards the end of the innings. This was more like the type of batting we expect to see from the CSK.

With regard to sports betting, there is just one sport out there that has more popularity than cricket, and this is obviously football. So, what is it that helps to make online cricket betting the second most popular sport to bet on in the world? Well, the main reason is that there are plenty of markets that cricket fans can place their money on.

As a matter of fact, there are so many markets to place bets on that even sports bettors who are not fans of cricket like to try their luck from time to time. In our opinion, one of the best betting markets in cricket is the Top Batsman because the odds are always high, meaning you will always be in with a chance of making a lovely profit. So, who do we believe will top score for the CSK against the MI?

Well, there is one batsman that has been at the top of his game ever since he came into the side, and this is Conway. The New Zealander has scored 231 runs in four matches at an average of 77, and has grasped his opportunity with both hands. We really would not be too surprised if he ended up being their top scorer in this match as well, so it is definitely a good bet to place.

With 208 runs to defend, the CSK would have been mightily upset if they failed to win the match, but they probably expected the DC to get much closer to the total than they did. Thanks to a great bowling performance, the DC were all out for 117 with 14 balls left to spare.

The pick of the bowlers was Moeen Ali as the Englishman picked up 3 wickets for 13 runs from the 4 overs that he bowled. Dwayne Bravo, Simarjeet Singh, and Mukesh Choudhary all picked up 2 wickets each, while not going for too many runs. Maheesh Theekshana was their fifth bowler in the match, and he picked up 1 wicket and conceded 29 runs from his 4 overs. This ended up being a complete team performance for the CSK.

If you would like to do a bit of IPL betting on the best CSK bowler against the MI, then who would we recommend you put your money on? Well, we always like the look of Bravo, so would be tempted to put our money on him to top score. In the 9 matches that he has played in, he has collected 16 wickets at an average of 17.69. We consider him to be one of their best bowlers, so would certainly not be too surprised if he was their top bowler against the MI.

Do we think that the CSK selectors will make any changes to the team for this game? Well, after such a complete team performance against the DC, we think it would be unfair for them to drop anyone, so we expect to see the same playing XI for this match.

Mumbai Indians Team Preview

The Mumbai Indians are sitting at the bottom of the IPL table with two wins from the 11 games that they have played, and as they can only reach 10 points, their chances of making it to the Play-Offs are over. They will try to use the remaining three games to restore some pride and try to bring some smiles to the faces of their fans.

Their last match of the tournament was against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and they put in another disappointing performance with the bat to lose the match by 52 runs. The MI won the toss and opted to field first, and they would have been quite happy to restrict the KKR to 165/9 from their 20 overs.

The pick of the bowlers for the MI was Jasprit Bumrah, who picked up 5 wickets for 10 runs from the 4 overs that he bowled. Daniel Sams, Murugan Ashwin, and Ramandeep Singh all chipped in with wickets to help keep the KKR to a score that they would have been confident of chasing down. Keiron Pollard and Riley Meredith were the two most expensive bowlers, going for 61 runs from the 5 overs that they bowled in total.

If you are going to be placing bets on the IPL at IPL betting sites on who you think the top bowler will be for the MI, then who do we recommend you place your money on? Well, Bumrah has had a really poor tournament, but he showed in the last game that he might be getting back to his best, so we would be very tempted to put our money on him being the top bowler for the MI.

As we said, the MI would have been quietly confident that they could chase down 165, but they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and never came close to chasing the total that they needed. The only player who managed to pass 20 was Ishan Kishan, who scored 51 from 43 balls, while the next highest score was from Pollard, who scored 15 off of 16. This really was another inept batting display from the MI, and it would have left their fans pulling their hair out in frustration.

If you are going to be placing an IPL prediction on the Top Batsman for the MI against the CSK, then who do we suggest you place your money on? Well, this is hard because they have all been so inconsistent as of late, but Kishan seems to have gotten a bit of his confidence back, so we are pretty confident that he will score some runs against the CSK.

Do we think that they will make any changes to their playing XI for this game? Well, your guess is as good as ours if we are being honest. Even if they do make changes, we do not think that they have the players in reserve to make much of a difference. We think that the same playing XI will take to the field against the CSK.

Toss Prediction

At the beginning of the competition, teams were desperate to win the coin toss because it meant that they could field first and avoid fielding in dewy conditions. Winning the toss and fielding first was a big advantage as teams that did this were winning 70% of the time. However, interestingly, things have changed now, and from the last 10 matches, the team that lost the coin toss has won the match. The two teams that won the toss and won the match both opted to bat first too.

With this in mind, our toss prediction for this match is that the captain that wins the coin toss will decide to bat first and put a big score on the board since dew no longer seems to be much of an issue.

Pitch Conditions

This match will take place at the Wankhede Stadium where the average first innings score this year has been 173, while the average first innings score needed to win a match has been 188. The team that has batted first at the Wankhede in the 2022 IPL has won on 47% of occasions, which would suggest that there is a slight advantage to batting second. However, despite this, we still think that the captain that wins the toss will decide to bat first and will look to put as score on 190 on the board.

Our CSK vs MI Betting Tips

Our match prediction today is that the CSK will win this match and keep their chances of a Play-Off spot alive and kicking. Why is this the franchise that we predict will win? Well, they have been in slightly better form than the Mumbai Indians, and we feel that their batting and bowling unit is a little bit stronger. Additionally, the CSK have the added incentive of still being able to reach the Play-Offs, while the MI are out of the running. This is why we are going for the CSK to win the match today.
