After four disappointing defeats, the defending champions must be reeling at how different this season is compared to the last. This is the second time in their history to have lost this many matches in a row and this match threatens to make a new record for them. With a Net Run Rate of -1.211 and 0 points to their name, fans will be wondering when the Super Kings will finally win their first match and attempt to turn their luck around.
We turn to the batting side first and it’s fair to say the Super Kings reached a decent batting total. The opening partnership between Robin Uthappa and Ruturaj Gaikwad, while not spectacular, got the squad off to a good start. Moeen Ali added the bulk of the runs to the Super Kings’ score with 48 runs from 35 balls. However the bowling attack from the Sunrisers was incredibly strong and caused a few casualties. Shivan Dube and MS Dhoni were both caught out after scoring just three runs each from five and six balls respectively.
The bowlers lacked depth and only managed to take their first wicket late in the game in the 13th over. Mukesh Choudhary and Maheesh Theekshana were the only two players to bowl the maximum amount of overs where they conceded 30 and 31 runs respectively. The Challengers started off on a strong foot with a partnership reaching half a century. Despite a somewhat early dismissal of skipper Faf du Plessis, Anuj Rawat continued with the stellar work and contributed to an 80 run partnership with Virat Kohli. Rawat scored 66 runs from 47 balls, and it was this cracking performance from the 22 year old that won him the Player of the Match award. Dinesh Karthik and Glenn Maxwell took the squad over the victory line in superb style. Both were delivered two balls to which Karthik scored 7 runs and Maxwell 8. He conceded 20 runs, took a wicket, and also bowled a maiden. Wanindu Hasaranga took two wickets in his four overs and conceded 28 runs. Toss Prediction

A team is yet to decide to bat first, as the chasing team undoubtedly has an advantage over the defending team.
