This year's tournament was originally planned to take place in Australia in 2020 but was moved to India. It was then moved again to the United Arab Emirates and Oman.
The top nine full members in the ICC cricket rankings (plus the 'hosts', India) directly qualified for the T20 World Cup 2021. Six other countries had to go through qualifiers to book their place at this prestigious tournament. Eight teams started the tournament in the Super 12s. The other eight teams took part in the group stage. The top two teams from each group joined the eight other teams in the Super 12 stage. Australia went on to be the winner.

Every T20 World Cup Prediction for 2021
World Cup Group Stage Prediction
Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are the standout teams in the group stage and should easily make it through to the Super 12s. In fact, we would be pretty surprised if both teams did not top their respective groups with consummate ease. We fancy the Netherlands and Ireland to also qualify for the Super 12s, but we would not be too surprised if Namibia qualified at the expense of one of them.
World Cup Super 12s Prediction
The top two teams from Group A will join Pakistan, Australia, West Indies and New Zealand in Group 1. The top two teams from Group B will join India, England, Afghanistan, and South Africa in Group 2. At the time of writing, England, Australia, Pakistan, and India are the top four ranked teams and many believe that one of these teams will go on to be the world cup winner.
Twenty20 World Cup 2021 Winner Predictions
West Indies' odds to be the winner
The West Indies are the defending champions having won the T20 World Cup in 2016. They will be the de facto force to reckon with, although their team is not as strong as it used to be.
West Indies' Odds to Win: Eliminated
England's odds to be the winner
England came in runners up in the 2016 tournament, this time they will have their sights on winning outright. Michael Vaughan, a former England captain, predicts that India and England will compete in the final, and that England will win the T20 World Cup in 2021. England recently played a 5-match T20 series in India and before the decider, Vaughan tweeted the following:
"I reckon today's T20 final could be the T20 World Cup final in eight months...At the same venue...England to win..."
England's Odds to Win: 2.80
Australia's odds to be the winner
Although Australia may have won five cricket world cup championships in the past, they have yet to win the T20 world cup trophy. They did not do well last tournament in 2016, not evening reaching the semifinals, and it is doubtful they will do any better this time - their recent performance in the T20 game has not been very impressive, and now they are in a group with defending champions West Indies, England and South Africa - a veritable "group of death".
Australia's Odds to Win: 4.20
New Zealand's odds to be the winner
Coming in fresh of their win of the Word Test Championship against India, New Zealand will have their spirits high and with an intention of maintaining a winning streak.
New Zealand's Odds to Win: 5.00
South Africa's odds to be the winner
South Africa have never won this tournament, and of as late have not had such a strong performance in the T20 format. Although their odds are not the best, they could still surprise.
South Africa's Odds to Win: Eliminated
Sri Lanka's odds to be the winner
In 2016 Sri Lanka put in a poor performance, failing to advance beyond the group stage. Will they do better this time round?
Sri Lanka's Odds to Win: Eliminated
Bangladesh's odds to be the winner
Bangladesh have always finished at the bottom of the Super 10/12s round, and not much optimism is there is them breaking that pattern this year.
Bangladesh's Odds to Win: Eliminated
Afghanistan's odds to be the winner
Afghanistan are not on anyone's radar to lift the trophy, however they are still seen as the dark horses of this tournament, and are predicted to cause some unexpected upsets along the way!
Afghanistan's Odds to Win: Eliminated
Pakistan's odds to be the winner
Pakistan have been playing very well recently and it is agreed among many that they should qualify out of their group easily.
Pakistan's Odds to Win: 3.75
India's odds to be the winner
India were favorites to win the last T20 World Cup tournament, but they came up against an inspired West Indies team in the semis. This year they are still be determined to win the trophy, even if they no longer have the hosting advantage, and have been setback by defeats to both Pakistan and New Zealand. In response to a fan on twitter, Aakash Chopra, a former Indian cricketer-turned-commentator, predicted that India would make the last four along with the West Indies, Pakistan, and England.
We definitely fancy their chances of winning, but we certainly cannot rule out England lifting the T20 World Cup trophy for the second time. Like Michael Vaughan, we also believe that the T20 World Cup final will be contested between India and England, and we feel that the vaster experience that the Indian players have playing in high pressure situations in the IPL will see them emerge the outright winners, but not by much. In light of recent matches, this may seem like a longshot indeed, but if India pull through there will a lot for everyone to win.
India's Odds to Win: Eliminated
Our T20 World Cup 2021 Betting Prediction
We predict India to win the 2021 T20 World Cup. Whatever the outcome of this tournament, one thing is for certain and that it that we will all be highly entertained!
Best T20 World Cup Players to bet on
As well as choosing which teams will win each match, or win the world cup outright, you can also bet on individual player performances. There are dozens of bet markets to choose from, such as the Top Team Bowler for instance, that can see you make a healthy profit if you bet on them to play as well as their potential gives them room for. Here are our top tips of players to look out for as the tournament progresses:
Top Tournament Runscorer
Babar Azam, Pakistan - Pakistan's captain is a tremendously powerful batsman. If Pakistan win, it will be mainly because of him.
Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan - Another batsman tipped to put up an incredible score.
Jos Buttler, England - With an average of above 50 runs not out in the T20 format, Buttler is another challenger to be the leading run scorer in the tournament.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Afghanistan - The young powerful hitter is a marvel. Afghanistan are dark horses because of performances like his.
Top Tournament Wicket-Taker
Shaheen Shah Afridi, Pakistan - The youngest bowler ever to take five wickets in a single World Cup match. He may be left handed but he has been unstoppable.
Rashid Khan, Afghanistan - Khan is considered to be one of the best spinners in T20 cricket, and although he does play for Afghanistan he would still be the best bowler in any nation. Khan's records is 95 wickets in 51 matches with a strike rate of 12.10 and an average of 12.63. If he does not finish the tournament as Afghanistan's leading wicket taker, it will be a big shock.
Jasprit Bumrah, India - An incredibly fast bowler, with plenty of clever variations. Bumrah has an amazing record of 59 wickets in 50 matches with an economy of 6.66 and a strike rate of 18.20. If he is at the top of his game, he will lead India all the way to the trophy.
Varun Chakravarthy, India - After his excellent performance for the Kolkota Knight Riders during this year's IPL, many have high expectations for Chakravarthy.
Tabraiz Shamsi, South Africa - Currently ranked as the best T20 bowler in the world, he has a record of 40 wickets in 41 matches at an average of 21.08. He currently just needs 4 more to overtake the record of most wickets in a T20I calendar year (Currently held by Andrew Tye of Australia at 31). We are confident that he will break that record in this T20 World Cup.
Andre Russell, West Indies - One of the best all-rounders in the world and can single-handedly win his team a match. Russel has 340 wickets in 382 T20 matches, with 5/15 being his best figures.
Anrich Nortje, South Africa - An amazing bowler with 90mph+ missiles, his first World Cup might be his time to shine.
Curtis Campher, Ireland - An appearance here from an associate nation here may be unexpected, but Campher has already got the world's attention with his 4 wickets in 4 balls against the Netherlands. If he can keep this form up, he will be the top wicket-taker of the tournament for sure.
