The 2022 Indian Premier League is in full swing, and we have seen some thrilling games and some interesting trends are beginning to emerge. Match 16 at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, sees the Punjab Kings and the Gujarat Titans battle it out. After playing three matches, the Kings have won two and are currently fourth in the table. The Titans are undefeated after their two games and are stationed one place higher than their opponents going into the match today. Punjab Kings Team Preview

In Match 11, the Punjab Kings reached a decent score of 180/8, and it seemed this would have been an easy score for the Chennai Super Kings to chase. However, after a couple of lethal bowling spells at the start from the Punjab Kings, they sailed to a comfortable win.
Skipper Mayank Agarwal didn’t get off to a good start as he was caught out in the first over. The three players to add the majority of the runs for the Kings was Liam Livingstone (60 runs from 32 balls) who was supported by Shikhar Dhawan (33 runs from 24 balls). Debutant Jitesh Sharma scored 26 runs from 17 balls, and struck three 6’s.
Now, let’s turn our attention to the bowlers. Debutant Vaibhav Arora showcased his talent for swinging the ball both ways and managed to take two wickets while only conceding 21 runs. He managed to remove key players Robin Uthappa and Moeen Ali during the Powerplay. Arshdeep Singh and Odean Smith continued with the good work by managing to take one wicket apiece in their two overs. Rahul Chahar bowled four overs and he finished by taking three wickets and secured the win for the Punjab Kings.

This match was certainly a nail-biter as both teams edged ahead and fell behind, however, it was only within the last couple of overs that the Delhi Capitals really began to crumble, and their anticipated win began to unravel.
Shubman Gill added 84 runs from 46 balls, giving him a strike rate of 182.61. Batting at number four, Skipper Hardik Pandya was scoring at a ball-a-run for the first 18 but managed to end with 31 runs off 27 balls after a dismissal from Khaleel Ahmed.
Speaking for the bowlers, Pandya was happy with the squad’s attack. Lockie Ferguson was awarded Player of the Match for his outstanding performance. He took four wickets and conceded 28 runs to give him a bowling economy of 7.00 in his four overs. Pandya was the most economical bowler with a score of 5.50 after taking a wicket and conceding 22 runs in his four overs. Rashid Khan showed a reasonable performance, however, he took an important wicket of Shardul Thakur.

If the Gujarat Titans win this match, they will have had an incredibly clean start to their 2022 campaign.
