We are now into the second round of games in the Indian Premier League, and if the next batch of matches are anything like the first batch, then we are definitely in for a real treat. The next match that we are going to take a look at sees the Lucknow Super Giants take on the Chennai Super Kings and both teams, after losing their opening match, will be looking for a win to get their first points on the board. Read on to find out our IPL prediction of who will win this match.

Lucknow Super Giants Team Preview

The Lucknow Super Giants played their first IPL 2022 match against the Gujurat Titans, and they lost a really close game by five wickets with just two balls remaining.

They got off to a really poor start after being asked to bat first, and found themselves at 29/4 with just 4.3 overs having been bowled. KL Rahul is one of the best T20 players in the world, but he was out off the very first ball of the match, while Quinton de Kock, Evin Lewis, and Manish Pandey were out for just 7, 10, and 6 runs. However, they got to a respectable total of 158/6 thanks to a 55 from 41 balls from Deepak Hooda and a 54 from 41 balls from Ayush Badoni.

If you are thinking about doing some online cricket betting and want to put some money on the top scorer for LSG in this match, then we would suggest that you think about putting your money on Rahul. Yes, he was out for a Golden Duck in the first match, but he is a quality batsman, and we would be surprised if he failed to score runs two times in a row.

How did their bowling attack get on in their first game? Well, Krunal Pandya was definitely the pick of the bowlers as he bowled four overs and conceded just 17 runs, while picking up the wicket of his brother, which he will probably remind him about for some time to come. Hooda was their most expensive bowler, going at 10.33 runs per over, while Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan went for 9.00 runs an over, conceding 51 runs from the 5.4 overs that they bowled in total. If they are to stand a chance of beating the Chennai Super Kings, then they are going to have to bowl much better than that.

So, if you like to do some IPL betting on the top bowler for a team because the odds are always very enticing, who would we recommend you put your money on? Well, we were really impressed with the way that Pandya bowled in the first match, so we suggest you consider putting your money on him if this is the type of bet that you would like to make.

What about the playing XI for this match against the CSK? Well, we believe that it will be the same XI that played against the Gujurat Titans. Yes, they lost this game, which was not ideal, but they will not make any knee-jerk reactions because they lost one game.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

The Chennai Super Kings' first match of the 15th edition of the IPL was against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and many expected them to get their campaign off to a winning start. However, the KKR had other ideas and overcome them to get off to a flier.

The CSK lost the toss and were put into bat first, and they found themselves five wickets down with just 61 runs on the board. Additionally, at the halfway stage of their innings, they only have 61 runs on the board, which is not ideal by any stretch of the imagination. They would have hoped to have at least 100 runs on the board at that stage, so that they could push on towards the backend of the innings. They finished with a score of 131/5, and this was thanks to 26 runs from Ravi Jadeja and 50 runs from MS Dhoni. When a team's first four batsmen score 46 runs between them, it is never easy to set a challenging total.

All of the best IPL betting sites will have enticing odds for the top batsman for the CSK, so if you are the type of person that likes to place such bets, who would we recommend you put your money on? Well, we think Ruturaj Gaikwad will score some runs in this match, despite getting a duck in the first game, so we would suggest that you consider putting your money on him to top score.

When it comes to their bowling attack, there was one bowler that stood out against the Kolkata Knight Riders and this was DJ Bravo. From the four overs that he bowled, he conceded just 20 runs and picked up three important wickets. To be honest, most of the bowlers did a good job, with only one of the six used going for more than eight an over, but they just did not have enough runs on the board to defend.

If you want to make an IPL prediction for the top bowler for the CSK against the LSG, then we would be tempted to put our money on Bravo. He bowled really well in that first match and that should provide him with plenty of confidence to bowl the same way and put the LSG batsmen under plenty of pressure.

When it comes to the playing XI, we expect the same players to play in this match. Like with the Lucknow Super Giants, we do not expect the Chennai Super Kings selectors to make some knee-jerk changes just because they have lost one match. They will know that the CSK have more than enough quality to overcome the mishap of an opening match defeat.

Toss Prediction

This match will be played at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, and we think that the captain that goes on to win the coin toss will decide to bowl first. The main reason why we think this is that we believe all captains will have one eye on potentially having to bowl in wet conditions because of the dew. This is definitely not ideal since the bowlers will not be able to grip the ball properly, so it will be advantageous to field first. You can find out more about making a toss prediction in our dedicated guide.

Pitch Conditions

The surface at the Brabourne Stadium is one that has been batsman-friendly in the past, and this was shown in the second match of the IPL 2022 that was played between the Delhi Capitals and the Mumbai Indians. The Mumbai Indians were put into bat first and managed to score 177/5, while the Delhi Capitals scored 179/6 in reply to win the match by four wickets. This means that in the last five IPL matches that were played at this stadium, the team that batted first managed to score more than 170 runs. This will probably not be a match that the bowlers on either side will enjoy bowling in.

Our Match Prediction

So, who do we predict will win the match today? Well, our match prediction today is that the Chennai Super Kings should go on and register their first win of the season. Why do we think this? Well, overall, we just feel that the CSK have a better team, both in the batting and bowling department, than the Lucknow Super Giants, so we would back them to get over the disappointment of their opening day defeat and claim their first two points.
