The Kolkata Knight Riders were able to secure a second win after successfully chasing a below-par target set by the Punjab Kings at 138. Player of the Match Umesh Yadav managed get the squad off to a fantastic start as he ripped through the Kings’ batting line-up taking four wickets. Varun Chakravarthy conceded just 14 runs in his 4 overs, giving him a superb economy score of just 3.50.
Although there were some good performances from the batting side and notable landmarks achieved (Ajinkya Rahane reached 4000 IPL runs) the attention deservedly all goes to Andre Russell. Russell’s incredible hitting combined with Sam Billings took the squad to an explosive victory.

On the bowling side, Jasprit Bumrah was a fantastically economical player (4.25) conceding 17 runs and taking three wickets. Daniel Sams and Tymal Mills were leaning towards the expensive side with scores of 8.00 and 8.75 respectively.
Can we expect to see any changes in the playing XI? With star batter Suryakumar Yadav recovering from a finger injury, we don’t know just yet whether he is ready to return. Yadav’s replacement, Anmolpreet Singh, has only managed to score 29 runs in three matches, so Yadav’s return will be hotly anticipated.
