Pakistan Super League in 2022
The 2022 edition of the Pakistan Super League, also known as PSL 7, will occur from 27 January to 27 February 2022. It will be contested by six teams - Islamabad United, Lahore Qalanders, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, and the Karachi Kings.
The two venues for the matches will be Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Stadium in Karachi. The stadiums are only allowed to be filled at 20% capacity (i.e. about 7,500 in Karachi and 5,500 in Lahore) in view of current COVID-19 restrictions in place in Pakistan. Tickets can be booked only on cricket.bookme.pk. Sony Pictures Networks India will provide the live broadcast of PSL 7 in India. Sky Sports will show the competition in the UK while PTV will broadcast live in Pakistan itself. You can follow the tournament or make your own predictions using our downloadable PSL 7 brackets sheet.
Our PSL Betting Predictions

Below you’ll find the odds we've written up for each PSL team. We have also added our reasons to our seeding.
Karachi Kings - 3/1 The Karachi Kings won in 2020, beating Lahore by 5 wickets. This was their first time to lift the trophy, thanks mainly to Babar Azam, who hit 473 runs. This year they have a very good chance of winning again. They may not have the best bowlers but Mohammed Nabi and Dan Christian are excellent all-rounders.
Lahore Qalanders - 7/2 Lahore made it to the finals in 2020 on the backs of their amazing bowling performance. Shaheen Afridi took the most wickets with 17. Samit Patel took 4 wickets only conceding 5 runs. In the batting department, Ben Dunk made the most sixes. They will still have Afridi, Patel and Dunk this year so they might do it this time.
Quetta Gladiators - 4/1 They finished poorly in 5th place last year. Only Mohammad Hasnain's taking of 14 wickets was memorable. They have worked really hard this year to recover from that. New players Chris Gayle, Tom Banton and Dale Steyn now give the team a good mix of experience and youth. They should do better this year.
Peshawar Zalmi - 9/2 Although they did badly in 2020, Kamran Akmal hit the highest runs score in the tournament - 101 off 55 balls. He also managed to break the boundary 41 times. Shoaib Malik also did well with three half-centuries from seven innings. Malik and Akmal are still on the team. New additions Ravi Bopara, David Miller and Sherfane Rutherford will also hope to reverse last year's fortunes.
Islamabad United - 5/1 They came in last place in 2020. Colin Munro and Shadab Khan were their best batsmen and scored three half centuries each. They have kept Khan and Munro and added England internationals Chris Jordan and Alex Hales. We don't quite believe that they will win it this year, but they will still bring better value for cricket bettors in 2021.
Multan Sultans They were at the top of the table at the end of the 2020 regular season and just barely missed out on the finals thanks to the Karachi Kings. Yet, despite this and having a good squad (including Chris Lynn, Carlos Braithwaite, James Vince and Imran Tahir) most bookies are not giving them good odds to win PSL 6. If they do put on a stunning performance, they will be fantastic value for money.

When Did the Pakistan Super League Begin?
The first edition of this competition was held in 2016, after two years of planning and two failed attempts. In October 2015, the PCB started to accept bids from interested parties to buy the rights to one of the five franchises that would compete in the tournament. All five teams were sold for a combined total of $93 million. In April 2017, the PCB decided to add a sixth team to the league and, once again, accepted bids for the franchise. This new team was eventually bought for $5.2 million per year, making them the most expensive team in the league. In 2018, the team was resold because of payment issues and fetched a whopping $6.35 million a year contract. Whereas other T20 competitions, such as the Indian Premier League (IPL), make use of auctions for teams to acquire players, the PSL uses a draft system. This means that all eligible players who want to play in the league are put into a pool and each team takes it in turn to choose players. Each team is allowed a maximum of sixteen players and are allowed to have four back-up players just in case of injuries.
It is time for some stats!Kamran Akmal has scored 1286 runs in 46 matches, making him the leading runscorer in the competition's history. Wahab Riaz has taken 65 wickets in 44 matches, making him the leading wicket-taker since the tournament began. The most wickets taken in one season is 25, which was achieved by Hasan Ali. During the 2016 season, Ravi Bopara achieved the best bowling figures in a match when he took 6 wickets for just 16 runs. During the 2019 edition, Shaheen Afridi went for 62 runs from his 4 overs, which is the most runs a bowler has conceded in a single match. Four bowlers have taken hat-tricks in this competition. These are Mohammad Amir, Imran Tahir, Junaid Khan, and Mohammad Sami.

What Format Will You Find in This Cricket League?
The six teams are placed into one group and each team plays every other team twice, with the 4 best teams going through to the play-offs. The teams that finish in the TOP 2 positions will play each other, with the winner going straight through to the final. The losing team will then play the winners of the match between the third and fourth placed teams, with the winning side going through to compete in the final. If scores are tied at the end of the match, a super over is played to determine which side will get the two points for a win.
