We are coming to the business end of the IPL 2022, and we cannot wait to watch all of the action unfold. To date, we have been treated to some enterprising cricket, and we are expecting a lot more of that in the games that are left. The 65th match of this year's Indian Premier League sees the Mumbai Indians, who are already eliminated, take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad, who are in with a slim chance of a Play-Off spot. So, read on to find our prediction of who will win the game.
Mumbai Indians Team Preview
It is safe to say that nobody expected the Mumbai Indians to be sitting at the bottom of the table at this stage in the competition, but they have had a really poor tournament, only managing to win three of their games so far. In addition to only having six points, they also have the worst Net Run Rate in the competition - it currently stands at -0.613. However, we do not think they will roll over in their last two matches because there is plenty of pride on the line.
Their last game of the competition was against the CSK, who have also had a really bad tournament, considering they were one of the favourites to win the title. The MI won this match with more than five overs to spare, to compound the misery of CSK fans even more. Fans of both of these franchises will want to forget the 15th edition of the IPL as quickly as possible.
The MI won the toss and decided to bowl first, and their bowling unit tore the CSK batting unit apart. After just six overs, the game was over as a contest, with the CSK having been reduced to 29/5. They were eventually bowled out for 97 runs, with four overs to spare. In this short format of the game, it really is criminal to be bowled out with 24 balls still remaining.
The pick of the bowlers for the MI was Daniel Sams, who picked up 3 wickets for 16 runs from the 4 overs that he bowled. Riley Meredith and Kumar Kartikeya both picked up 2 wickets each, while Jasprit Bumrah and Ramandeep Singh picked up a wicket apiece, and were very economic.
Online cricket betting is something that has become very popular nowadays, and one of the main reasons as to why bettors love to place bets on cricket is the variety of markets that are on offer. One of the best betting markets, in our opinion, is the Top Bowler one, and this is because there will always be great odds on offer since it is not a simple wager to predict.
So, who do we think will end up being the top bowler for the MI against the SRH? Well, we have really liked the look of Daniel Sams as of late, and we would back him to be the top bowler. In the 9 matches that he has bowled in, he has collected 11 wickets at an average of 27.36. So, think about backing him if you are going to make such a bet.
With just 97 runs to chase down, the MI knew that they all but had the match won, but they still did try and make a bit of a meal of it. They were reduced to 33/4 with 5 overs having been bowled, and it was a 34 from Tilak Varma that steadied the ship. Their batsmen have been inconsistent throughout the tournament, and the same thing happened in this game.
If you are going to do some IPL betting on another quality market, such as the Top Batsman, who do we think will score the most runs for the MI against the SRH? Well, while the majority of their batsmen have blown hot and cold, there is one that has not, and that is Varma. In the 12 matches that he has played, he has scored 368 runs at an average of 40.89. So, if you are making such a bet on the MI batsmen, he is the one to look at.
What about their playing XI for this next match? Will they make any changes to their side? Well, this is hard for us to predict because they could make any number of changes since they are now out of the tournament. We will just have to wait and see.
Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preview
The Sunrisers Hyderabad were sitting pretty near the top of the table at one stage, but a run of five defeats in a row now sees them in 8th place and with a lot of work to do if they are to make it to the play-Offs. They have 10 points from their 12 games and a Net Run Rate of -0.270, which means that they need to win both their remaining games and improve their NRR considerably if they are to make it to the next stage.
Their last game of the tournament was against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and they lost the game by 54 runs. The KKR won the toss and decided to bat first, and they managed to put a score on the board of 177. Andre Russell was their top batsman, scoring 49 from 28 balls, while Sam Billings chipped in with 34 from 29.
The pick of the bowlers for the SRH was Umran Malik, who collected 3 wickets for 33 runs from the 4 overs that he bowled. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Marco Jansen also bowled well, going for just 57 runs from the 8 collective overs that they bowled, while picking up one wicket each. T. Natarajan is usually very reliable for the SRH, but he was expensive in this match, going for 43 runs and failing to get a wicket.
If you are betting on one of the many IPL betting sites on a market such as the Top Bowler, who do we think will be the best bower for the SRH? Well, we are going to opt for Malik, as the kid has been one of the finds of the competition. In the 12 games that he has played in, he has collected 18 wickets with an average of 19.22. He bowls very fast, and pace is something that will always help bowlers get wickets.
A score of 177 on that wicket was about par, so the SRH batsmen would have been quietly confident of chasing it down, but they ended up scoring just 123 runs, and finishing well short of their target. The only batsmen who put any kind of score on the board were Abhishek Sharma and Aiden Markram, who scored 43 and 32 runs. Kane Williamson is a quality player, but he has been really struggling as of late.
If you want to place an IPL prediction on the Top Batsman for the SRH, who would we opt for? Well, we would opt for Sharma as he has been really good at the top of their order recently. From his 12 innings, he has scored 374 runs at an average of 31.17, so putting your money on him is definitely worth a punt.
Are they going to make any changes to their playing XI? Well, unless someone gets injured or sick before the game, we think they will field the same playing XI against the MI.
Toss Prediction
At the beginning of this prestigious competition, the toss played a big role in who went on to win the match. It actually got to the stage where it was basically - win the toss, win the match. It was like this because there was a lot of dew about, and when there is dew, the ball becomes really slippery, and bowling becomes a lot more difficult. Nowadays, with the quality batsmen that are about, a bowler cannot afford to be off his radar at all.
However, things have changed now, and dew seems to be less of a factor. At this stage in the competition, the team that wins the coin toss is winning 50% of the time, and more often if they decide to bat first. Thus, with this in mind, our toss prediction for this match is that the winning captain will decide to bat first with the aim of putting a big score on the board to put their opponents under plenty of scoreboard pressure.
Pitch Conditions
This game will be played at the Wankhede Stadium, and the average first innings score this year in the IPL at this venue has been 173. The average score that has been needed to win a 2022 IPL game at the Wankhede Stadium has been 188, while the team that has batted first has won the game 47% of the time. Despite the fact that the team batting second has won 53% of the time, we still think that the captain who wins the coin toss will opt to bat and will try to score around 180.
Our MI vs SRH Betting Tips
This has been one of the hardest Indian Premier Leagues in recent years to make a match prediction today for since all of the franchises can beat each other on their day, even the likes of Mumbai Indians and the CSK. So, who do we think will win this match today? Well, the team that we predict will win is the Mumbai Indians. Yes, we know that they have had a poor tournament, but they are in better form that the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and do not have the added pressure of needing to win in order to stand a chance of making the Play-Offs.
