The 23rd game of the 2021 IPL will see the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which is a battle between one of the top teams in the tournament so far against one of the bottom teams. The CSK got an impressive win against the Royal Challengers Bangalore last time out, while the SRH lost in a Super Over to the Delhi Capitals. Keep on reading to see who we think will go on to win this match.

IPL Team Preview: Chennai Super Kings

The CSK played the RCB in their last game and gave Virat Kohli's side a pasting that nobody expected would happen. Faf du Plessis carried on his fine form with a lovely 50 from 41 balls, but the star of the show was Ravi Jadeja who smashed 62 from 28 balls. What made his innings even more impressive was the fact that 37 of those runs came from a single over, which equals the record number of runs scored off one over in the IPL.

The likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad (33 from 25), Suresh Raina (24 from 18), and Ambati Rayudu (14 from 7) all chipped in with some runs to help the CSK hit a very respectable score of 191/4.

Now that they had the runs on the board, they needed their bowlers to be on point against a very good RCB batting lineup, and that is exactly what they were. There have been questions asked about their bowling attack this season, but they showed us what they are capable of this time. Jadeja picked up 3 wickets for just 13 runs from his 4 overs, while Imran Tahir, who was playing his first game in the 2021 IPL, picked up 2 wickets for 16 runs from his 4 overs. Shardul Thakar, who was really expensive in the last game, picked up a wicket and conceded only 11 runs from his 4 overs. When three bowlers bowl 12 overs for a mere 40 runs, the opposing team are never going to win.

If the batsmen and the bowlers keep performing at the levels that they showed in this match, then there is no reason why they cannot go on to lift the trophy.

IPL Team Preview: Sunrisers Hyderabad

While the CSK have won four of their five matches, the SRH have only won one match from their opening five. However, despite this poor run of form, they are still just two points off a play-off place, so they are definitely not out of the running yet.

They were actually quite unlucky to lose their last game against the Delhi Capitals as it went to a Super over that the DC won. The SRH scored seven from their Super Over, while the DC managed to get 8 runs to pick up the points. The DC keep finding ways to win without playing at their absolute best. This is a pretty nice habit to have.

The DC were put into bat first and the SRH bowling attack did a pretty solid job at restricting their opponents to 159/4, which was probably about par. Siddarth Kaul had an economy of 7.75 and picked up a couple of wickets, while Jagadeesha Suchith conceded just 21 runs from 4 overs, Rashid Khan conceded 31 from 4 overs and picked up a wicket, and Vijay Shankar conceded 19 runs from the 3 overs that he bowled. Their most expensive bowler was Khaleel Ahmed, who went for 42 runs from his 4 overs.

When it came to their batting, Jonny Bairstow carried on his fine form with 39 from 18, while Kane Williamson scored a nice 66 from 51 runs. The rest of the batting line-up did not add anything to the game, with 6 of the 7 that were dismissed scoring fewer than 10 runs. For the Super Over, the SRH sent out Warner and Williamson, which was completely baffling since Bairstow has been their best batsmen by a mile this season. Above we said they were unlucky to lose the Super Over, but perhaps they lost because of a foolish decision.

The reason why the SRH sit near the bottom of the table is mostly down to the fact that many of their batsmen are out of form. If they lose early wickets, then they will struggle to post any score of note.

Toss Prediction

The team that wins the toss will likely choose to bat first here due to the fact that the average first innings IPL score at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi is 162.89, while the average score in the second innings stands at 149.22. This suggests that the team batting first will have an advantage, so keep this in mind when you are considering a bet.

Pitch and Conditions

We are expecting fair weather conditions and a pitch that will be conducive to spin bowling. While the spin bowlers will get some assistance off the pitch, the relatively short boundaries mean that if the batsmen can connect properly, there are boundaries to be had. We feel that the team batting first will be aiming for a score of around 170, which is a little bit above part.

Our Chennai Supers Kings v Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL Betting Tips

We feel that the Chennai Super Kings will go on to win this match. They will be feeling confident after they destroyed the Royal Challengers Bangalore and, in our opinion, they have a better team, both in the batting and bowling department. If they can get some early wickets, they will feel that the win is practically in the bag.

Our betting tip: Chennai Super Kings to win the 23rd match of the IPL 2021.
