After a bumper weekend of four matches, Monday’s game is the eighth to be held at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. Both teams have won three matches and are on three points, however the Royals are on a net run rate of +0.389 compared to +0.223 for the Knight Riders. This match will begin to separate the franchises further allowing the strong to dominate the top of the leaderboard.

So, what do we have in store for you? Well of course, we will share our match prediction today highlighting who we predict will win this match and why, as well as some picks for placing wagers at top IPL betting sites. Without further ado, let’s jump straight in!

Rajasthan Royals Team Preview

The Rajasthan Royals’ 2022 campaign is only slightly behind that of 2021 when comparing their first five game, in which 2021 saw four wins at this point. They were handed their second defeat in the IPL 2022 after the Gujarat Titans (now top of the leader board) posted a very challenging score of 197. Unfortunately for the Royals, this was a score too high for them to chase an ended 37 runs short. Their score of 155 has been their lowest total in the competition so far. Coming off the back of another loss, the Royals will be keen to establish some consistency and turn their luck back into their favour. Since 2019, the Royals have finished 7th, 8th, and 7th in the tournament, so every point counts. Could this be the first year since 2008 for them to win their second IPL title?

Curiously, as the Royals continue through their 2022 campaign, their totals are declining (210, 193, 169, 165, 155). Perhaps this will be the match to break this trend, something that could certainly be on the cards of the batting department come together even more. In their match against the Gujarat Titans, Jos Buttler got to a half century in just 23 balls. This helped to get the Royals to a total of 65 by the end of the Powerplay. Buttler still is a strong choice for top batsman if you are interested in IPL betting for the match today.

The Royals’ momentum was halted rather quickly as the Titans managed to take three wickets during this time. Devdutt Padikkal was out for a duck, and things weren’t much better for Ravichandran Ashwin and skipper Sanju Samson who both went run-for-run for a total of 19 between them. Shimron Hetmyer provided a somewhat decent total for the Royals in the middle order scoring 29 runs from 17 balls (strike rate 170.59). The other batters failed to add anything meaningful.

Out of the bowlers, Ashwin was the most economical conceding 33 wickets for an economy of 8.25. Yuzvendra Chahal, Kuldeep Singh, and Riyan Parag took a wicket each and conceded 51 runs, 32 runs, and 12 runs respectively.

Kolkata Knight Riders Team Preview

The Kolkata Knight Riders currently have a 50% success rate in the tournament and come off the back of a two-match defeat. Will the Royals make it a hattrick for them? The Delhi Capitals, in Match 19, showcased fantastic skill as they soared to an incredible 215, winning by 44 runs which the third highest run margin so far. It seems as if the Knight Riders were just having ‘one of those days’ and ended up being outplayed in batting, bowling, and fielding. Coach Brendon McCullen and captain Shreyas Iyer would have no doubt been ready to come into their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad with better plans. Unfortunately for the squad, this didn’t pay off and they lost by seven wickets.

Despite managing to take both the openers in the Powerplay, the Knight Riders failed to maintain this pressure for the Sunrisers as the game progressed. There were only a handful of batters that showed a notable performance. Andre Russell scored 49 runs (with four 6’s and four 4’s) from 25 balls, for a strike rate of 196.00. Nitish Rana reached 54 from 35 balls for a strike rate of 150.00. Skipper Iyer almost went run-for-run and ended with 28 runs from 25 balls. After the match, he mentioned that he was ‘drained and disappointed after putting in a good total’. This match saw a couple of changes to their playing XI to see debuts from Aaron Finch and Aman Hakim Khan, and a return from Sheldon Jackson. They all had short-lived stays taking just 15 balls between them while scoring 19 runs.

Sunil Narine was the most economical bowler, conceding just 23 runs for an economy of 5.75. Andre Russell managed to take two wickets, while Pat Cummins managed to take one, however he was also fairly expensive conceding 40 runs.

If you are thinking about online cricket betting, the top batsman market is one of the most popular to bet on. If Iyer manages to enter this match with as much energy as the last, he would be our IPL prediction for this market.

Toss Prediction

By Match 30 in the 2021 IPL, there had already been seven captains that had elected to bat first. This couldn’t be more different for the 2022 season as the trend seems to be win the toss, bat second, and win the match. That’s why our toss prediction hasn’t changed yet, and we are quite confident that this match will be no different.

Pitch Conditions

Seven matches have taken place at Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai, so far. The Kolkata Knight Riders have had some experience playing at this wicket, however, with a success rate of 0%. We are all wondering if they will be able to turn their luck around. In contrast, the Rajasthan Royals are yet to play at this stadium, so it will be interesting to see how they fair.

The highest score to date has been 215 in Match 19 by the Delhi Capitals, while the lowest was 176 from the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 25. The average first innings score in 194.2, so we can expect a fairly high-scoring match.

Our Match Prediction

Will the Kolkata Knight Riders get to a hattrick of consecutive losses? Will the Rajasthan Royals be able to pull a 180 to get them back onto the winning track? This feels like a tricky one to predict and the toss could give the winning captain enough of an advantage to take the win. Both teams seemed to be having an off day in their last match, however, if we imagine that they enter Match 30 with a fresh head, then our IPL prediction of who will win this match will be the Kolkata Knight Riders.
