IPL 2021 Match Prediction: Sunrisers Hyderabad versus Chennai Super Kings. 43rd Match. Who Will Win?

The Sunrisers Hyderabad landed an impressive win versus the Rajasthan Royals in their last match and can still mathematically make it to the playoffs, although this is highly unlikely. The fact that the Sunrisers Hyderabad management team has decided to cut off some senior players and give their youth a chance is a clear sign that they think the playoffs are out of their reach. In the 44th match of the 2021 IPL, they will take on the Chennai Super Kings, who have been a very impressive outfit and all but have a playoff position. Sunrisers Hyderabad Team Preview

The Sunrisers Hyderabad won their second match of the season after making a number of changes to their team. Jason Roy came into the team and made an impact right away with 60 off 42 balls, Abhishek Sharma batted nicely while under pressure, and the bowling team did their job reliably.

However, we do not think that their win should be given a lot of importance. Yes, they played well but we have all seen Roy struggle in spinning conditions far too many times to truly believe that he has put this weakness behind him. There is a lack of depth in their batting and Jason Holder seems to be one of the few who can clear the ropes regularly.

Bhuvaneshwar Kumar is a really good bowler, but he has been far from his best. Kumar and Sandeeo Sharma rely on the swing that the new ball offers, but it has not offered much in the United Arab Emirates. Rashid Khan is their only genuine match winner when it comes to their bowling department, but he has not been able to pick up many wickets because teams just play out his four overs and attack the rest of the bowlers.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

The Chennai Super Kings have been in really good form and even manage to win when they are not playing to their full potential. We thought that they got a bit luck in their last win against the Kolkata Knight Riders, and even MS Dhoni said as much.

There can be no doubt that the Chennai Super Kings have a more powerful and stronger batting lineup than the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Ruturaj Gaikwad has been on fire as of late and has formed a really strong opening partnership with Faf du Plessis.

With Ambati Rayadu and Moeen Ali in their top four, they have a strong top order, but it is safe to say that Suresh Raina and Dhoni are beyond their best. The likes of Ravi Jadeja and Sam Curran or Dwayne Bravo need to bat well if the top four do not get the runs because you cannot rely on Dhoni and Raina as much anymore.

Their bowling performance against the Kolkata Knight Riders was pretty poor. They seem to be quite bare in the spin-bowling department, so we would not be all that surprised if Imran Tahir plays in the next match. The depth in the squad that they have when compared to their rivals is on a different level.

The team captain that wins the toss will want to bat first. The pitch is pretty slow, but it will remain consistent throughout the game, so the winning captain will want to put a score on the board and hope that the scoreboard pressure causes their opponents to crumble.

Pitch and Conditions

The Sharjah 2021 pitch is quite a bit different to the Sharjah 2020 pitch. It is now very spin friendly, and batsmen can find it tricky to score on. Lately, scores of just 130 have proved hard to chase, so the team that bats first will want to get a score of around 150-160 on the board to put the pressure well and truly on their opponents.

We are going to put our money on the Chennai Super Kings to be victorious in this match. The slow wicket will even the playing field a bit and make this a close contest. However, we are going to back current form and bank on experience to pull through.
