The end of the IPL 2022 Group Stage is fast approaching, and we are still none the wise as to the four teams that will make it to the Play-Offs and give themselves the chance to lift the 2022 Indian Premier League trophy. To date, the IPL has provided us with countless hours of entertainment, and this is going to go up a notch as eight or nine teams battle it out for just four Play-Off spots. The 55th match of this year's tournament will see the Chennai Super Kings play the Delhi Capitals, and this is our prediction of who will win the game.

Chennai Super Kings Team Preview

The Chennai Super Kings have had an Indian Premier League to forget, that is for sure. They entered the tournament as one of the favourites, but they have failed to flatter, and they currently sit in ninth place with six points to their name. They do still have an outside chance of making it to the Play-Offs, but it would come as a big surprise if they manage to do so since they have a six point gap to close. In addition to this, they also have a negative Net Run Rate of -0.431, which works against them.

Their last match of the campaign was against the RCB, and they lost the match by 13 runs. The CSK won the coin toss and decided that they wanted to field first, and the RCB managed to score 173 runs from their 20 overs. The pick of the bowlers for the CSK was Maheesh Theekshana, who picked up three wickets for 27 runs from the four overs that he bowled. Moeen Ali also bowled well, picking up two wickets for 28 from his four overs, while Ravi Jadeja was very economical, going for five runs an over from the four that he bowled.

Cricket is the second most popular sport in the world behind football when it comes to viewership numbers and the amount of money bet on it, and this is because cricket has a variety of markets that sports betting fans can put their money on. Even those who are not huge fans of cricket have probably had a flutter on a cricket match every so often. When it comes to online cricket betting, one of our favourite markets is the Top Bowler one since the odds are always enticing and lead to a big profit if you manage to predict correctly.

So, in this match, who do we feel will be the top bowler for the CSK against the DC? Well, if Dwayne Bravo is fit again, then we would suggest that you place your money on him to pick up the most wickets for the CSK. In the eight games that he has played, he has collected 14 wickets at an average of 18.50. If he is not playing because of an injury, then Theekshana is a good bet too, since he has 11 wickets from 7 matches at an average of 18.91.

With 173 runs needing to be chased down in order to win the match, the CSK batsmen would have been confident that they could go on to win the match and put themselves right in contention for a Paly-Off spot. However, despite an opening partnership of 54 between Ruturaj Gaikwad, who scored 28 from 23, and Devon Conway, who scored 56 from 37 balls, they went on to lose the game by 13 runs. Moeen Ali chipped in with 34 from 27, but none of the other batsmen scored any runs of note - this has been the story of their campaign so far.

If you want to do some IPL betting on the Top Batsman for the CSK, then who do we recommend you bet on? Well, this is a tricky one as they have been so hit and miss throughout the competition. We would probably suggest that you opt for Conway as he has scored 144 runs in 3 games at an average of 72, and is showing some grit and determination to score runs. It is fair to say that he is taking the chance that was offered to him with both hands.

When it comes to the Chennai Super Kings playing XI for this match against the DC, do we expect to see any changes? Well, if Bravo is fit again, then he will definitely come into the team. He might replace Dwaine Pretorius since the South African has been expensive as of late and currently has a bowling average of 35.00.

Delhi Capitals Team Preview

The Delhi Capitals are sitting in fifth place in the table with 10 points to their name thanks to the five wins they have picked up from 10 matches. This means that they are just two points adrift of a Play-Off spot, and their very healthy NRR of +0.641 could definitely help them come the end of the Group Stage.

Their last match of the competition was against the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and they were put into bat first after the SRH won the toss. They knew that they needed to put a big score on the board, and they managed to smash 207 from their 20 overs. The stars of the show were David Warner, who scored 92 from 58 ball, and Rovman Powell, who smashed 67 from 35 balls The captain, Rishabh Pant also chipped in with a brisk 26 from 16 balls. This really was a fantastic batting performance against a strong bowling unit.

If you want to place a bet on the best batsman for the DC against the CSK at one of the top IPL betting sites, then who do we suggest you put your hard-earned money on? Well, we always like the look of Warner for such a bet because he is just full of quality and rarely lets his team down. In the eight games that he has played to date, he has scored 356 runs at an average of 59.33 and a strike rate of just under 160.00.

With more than 200 runs to defend, the DC bowling unit would have been disappointed if they could not defend their total and help earn two points for their franchise. They got off to a great start by reducing the SRH to 37/3 with seven overs on the board. They kept picking up regular wickets, and the SRH could only muster a score of 186/8 from their 20 overs, meaning that they lost the match by 21 runs. The fact that they even got so close was down to Nicholas Pooran, who smashed 62 runs from 34 balls.

The pick of the bowlers for the DC was Khaleel Ahmed, who collected 3 wickets for 30 runs from his four overs. All the other bowlers also picked up at least one wicket, but they were a bit more expensive than they would have liked. For example, Shardul Thakur picked up a brace, but he also conceded 44 runs from his 4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav and Mitchell Marsh picked up one wicket each, but they conceded 76 runs from their combined 8 overs.

If you want to make an IPL prediction for the top bowler for the DC against the CSK, then who do we suggest you opt for? Well, there is one name that jumps out at us, and this is Yadav. To date, he has picked up 18 wickets from 10 matches at an average of 17.17. So, if he is not a good bet for top bowler, we do not know who is.

Do we think that the DC will make any changes to their playing XI for the match against the CSK? Well, nobody has been shocking as of late and they picked up a win in their last match, so, unless there is an injury or sickness before Sunday, we expect to see the same playing XI that beat the SRH.

Toss Prediction

At the start of the 2022 Indian Premier League, the coin toss was playing a big role in deciding the team that won the match. This was because the team that fielded first had a huge adavantage over those fielding second because they did not have to try and bowl in dewy conditions. Bowling in wet conditions is very hard for a fielding team because it is impossible to truly grip the ball, making bowling and catching a lot trickier. Additionally, in dewy conditions, the ball comes onto the bat much nicer.

However, when we take a look at recent games, it would seem that dew is now less of an issue. For example, the team that has won the toss in recent matches has won 50% of the time, while at the beginning of the competition, it was as high as 70%. Despite the clear evidence that dew is now less of a problem, teams are still not sure as to whether it is a wise move to opt to bat first. So, what toss prediction do we make for this match? Well, we believe that the winning captain will opt to field first, still thinking about the dew that had such an impact at the start of the competition.

Pitch Conditions

This match will be played at the DY Patil Stadium, which has an average first innings score of 168 in this year's IPL. The team that has had to bat first here has won 40% of the time, while the team batting second has won 60% of the time. This is another reason why we think that the captain that wins the toss will decide to field first. The first innings average winning score is 185, so the team that bats first will want at least 10-15 more runs than that.

Our CSK vs DC Betting Prediction

This has probably been one of the hardest Indian Premier Leagues to predict, and this match is not a given either. The fact that it is hard to predict who will win has been highlighted by the odds that the bookmakers are offering – both teams have more or less the same odds. This is not an easy match today to predict, but the franchise that we predict will win is the Delhi Capitals. This is our match prediction today because we believe that the DC have a better batting unit than the CSK, and this should be enough to see them leave with the two points that are on offer.
