The fifth and final Test in the 2021/2022 Ashes series is finally here, and Indian fans can catch all the action from the 14th -18th January at Blundstone Arena, Hobart from 09:30 IST. In the previous test England secured a tense draw to scupper Australia’s hopes of a series whitewash. However, the upcoming final Test is unlikely to be viewed as a dead rubber by both teams.

Keep reading to find out our cricket match prediction to this exciting final match of the The Ashes series, where we share our top Ashes betting markets to place at the best betting sites for cricket.

Australia Team Preview

Australia were agonisingly close to claiming a 4-0 victory over England, with anticipation of going on to secure a whitewash the 2021/2022 Ashes series. While we already know who will win the Ashes, the Men Down Under will be focusing on regaining seemingly unstoppable momentum they created in the first three Tests. Cricket Australia will certainly be happy to secure both the Ashes and the 2021 T20 World Cup within two months.

Left-handed batsman Usman Khawaja received Man of the Match after achieving two centuries in both innings (137 and 101 runs). Right-handed batsman Steve Smith was also on good form, creating a partnership with Khawaja that earned Australia 300 runs in the first innings.

Left-handed batsman Travis Head may return to the team position number 5 at the expense of Usman Khawaja after finishing his isolation period after contracting Covid-19.

England Team Preview

Although a win wasn’t on the cards at any time for England in the fourth test, the draw for the tourists was certainly enough to boost their morale. A sense of relief was palpable and was expressed by captain Joe Root speaking on behalf of the team after the match. Although they won’t be able to bring the ashes home, England will be keen to turn their fate around and with one last chance to win their first Test.

There may be a significant shakeup to England’s line up going into this Test. Australia’s pace bowling in the first innings dealt a few blows with three England players receiving injuries. Jos Buttler will definitely miss the final match after fracturing his finger and debutant Sam Billings has been named as Buttler’s replacement for the day/night match in Hobart. It is still not clear if wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow and all-rounder Ben Stokes will join just yet as they contend a thumb and side-strain injury respectively.

Toss Prediction

Hobart has never before hosted an Ashes Test, nor a Test match cricket since 2016. In the 13 Test matches that been played at Blundstone Arena, eight have been won through batting first compared three when bowling first. Whichever team is lucky enough to win the toss will most likely opt to bat first to hopefully post a challenging first innings score. If you like to bet on the Ashes, the coin toss is often a small and exciting wager to place to kick off the final Test.

Pitch Conditions

The Bellerive Oval, also known as the Blundstone Arena, has been known to be one of the hardest pitches to bat on in Australia. Spinners will be in their element over pace bowlers as the pitch is often slow in the first days. Light showers could bring some disruption to the first two days of the Test if the forecast remains the same. Keep this in mind if you are online cricket betting.

Our Match Prediction

With only one Test match left in this series, emotions will be high. Although this is technically a dead rubber Test, England will be desperate to win their first game. Australia, on the other hand, will be striving for another win to make it a resounding 4-0 series score securing them both the win for the Ashes and as T20 World Champions in the space of two months. If you are betting on the Ashes, a win for Australia seems likely.
