The fifth and final Test in the 2021/2022 Ashes series is finally here, and Indian fans can catch all the action from the 14th -18th January at Blundstone Arena, Hobart from 09:30 IST. In the previous test England secured a tense draw to scupper Australia’s hopes of a series whitewash. However, the upcoming final Test is unlikely to be viewed as a dead rubber by both teams.

Australia Team Preview

Australia were agonisingly close to claiming a 4-0 victory over England, with anticipation of going on to secure a whitewash the 2021/2022 Ashes series. While we already know who will win the Ashes, the Men Down Under will be focusing on regaining seemingly unstoppable momentum they created in the first three Tests. Although they won’t be able to bring the ashes home, England will be keen to turn their fate around and with one last chance to win their first Test.

There may be a significant shakeup to England’s line up going into this Test. Australia’s pace bowling in the first innings dealt a few blows with three England players receiving injuries. Jos Buttler will definitely miss the final match after fracturing his finger and debutant Sam Billings has been named as Buttler’s replacement for the day/night match in Hobart. It is still not clear if wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow and all-rounder Ben Stokes will join just yet as they contend a thumb and side-strain injury respectively.

Toss Prediction

Hobart has never before hosted an Ashes Test, nor a Test match cricket since 2016. In the 13 Test matches that been played at Blundstone Arena, eight have been won through batting first compared three when bowling first. Whichever team is lucky enough to win the toss will most likely opt to bat first to hopefully post a challenging first innings score.
