New Zealand's tour of India got off to a really exciting start as their first Test went down to the last ball on the final day. New Zealand had just one wicket left for close to ten overs and managed to hold on to it in order to snatch a draw. India will be very disappointed that they could not earn two World Test Championship points, and this is something that could come back to haunt them in the future.

The second Test takes place in Mumbai from the 3rd of December until the 7th. This is our prediction of who will come out victorious.

India Team News

The Indian team can be proud of the Test match cricket that they played in the first Test, although they did not get the win that they would have wanted. Their team has some obvious weakness, but they are papered over when they play at home, and this was clear in this first match. Excellent batting from their lower order in both of their innings allowed them to reach impressive scores and the spinners then bowled really well.

In Mumbai, the spin bowlers should get a lot more assistance from the pitch, so they will be even trickier for the New Zealand bowlers to face. In the previous Test, we saw Axar Patel get five wicket - his fifth in just eight matches - and there is definitely a chance that he will add another one to his tally in the second Test.

We are sure that he will pick up at least two wickets, and we actually think that he is a great option for the Top Bowler market for India, if this is the type of market that you like to bet on when doing some online cricket betting. The trio of Ravi Ashwin, Ravi Jadeja, and Patel will be hard to stop on a wicket that might have been tailor-made for them.

The fast bowlers were a little bit inconsistent in the first Test, and we believe that there might be a change in Mumbai. Ishant Sharma might have to be dropped for Mohammad Siraj, who can count himself lucky to have missed out in the first Test.

We also think that their batting will need to be rejigged. Virat Kohli will return for this game, which means that one batsman will have to drop out, but who will it be? There are a number of reports that Mayank Aggarwal will miss out and that KS Bharat could end up making his debut. However, we see this as a stopgap measure and it will not help India in the long run. It is likely that Ajinkya Rahane has used up all his chances and will be dropped, even if he was the captain in the first Test.

If the wicket happens to be a rank turner, then scoring runs will also be hard for the Indian batsmen too. Players that face the new ball and are really good against spin, such as Cheteshwar Pujara, have a very goo chance of being India's highest scorer. Shreyas Iyer is also in really good form, while Jadeja also have very good odds to be India's Top Batsman at betting sites for cricket. So, check those out if you are thinking about betting on a Top Batsman for India.

NZ Team Preview

New Zealand will be mighty relieved that they managed to get out of Kanpur with some a href="https://www.cricketonlinebetting.in/cricket-match-prediction/worldwide-competitions/icc-world-test-championship/">World Test Championship points to show for their dogged efforts. The pitch was a lot flatter than anyone expected it to be, and it did not break up much over the course of the five days. There were a number of great performances from the Kiwis, but Tom Latham stood out for us. He scored two more half-centuries against India, and really love batting in this country.

Therefore, we are happy to put money on him being the Top Batsman for New Zealand in this game too. Will Young was a surprise package for New Zealand, but the lack of contribution from the other batsmen will be quite concerning for New Zealand. If the pitch turns like we think it might, then we can see the New Zealand batsmen being in plenty of trouble in this game.

Tim Southee was amazing in the first Test, picking up eight wickets in the match, but if this is a rank turner, then he will be rendered less effective. While the New Zealand spin bowlers are quality players, they are not as good as the spin bowlers that India have available.

Toss Prediction

The team that is lucky enough to go ahead and win the toss will more than likely decided to bat first. This will be a very big advantage because it is expected that the pitch will start to turn from as early as the second or third session. Thus, it is important to bat first and then put a huge score on the board, so that they will not have to bat last on a pitch that is spinning square.

Pitch Conditions

There is some unusual rain in Mumbai, and this could mean that there could be some stoppages on day one. However, the forecast improves a lot after that, so it is very likely that there will be a result in this Test. All of the talk indicates that the wicket will spin a lot, which will give a huge advantage to India and could signal an innings defeat for New Zealand. A smart betting strategy would be to wait for day one to finish so that you can get a better idea as to what type of surface it is and then place some in-play bets.

Our Prediction

For this cricket match prediction, we are going to put our money on India to earn a huge win in this game. They have a brilliant trio of spin bowlers that showed against England that they are virtually unplayable on pitches that turn a lot. However, the Indian batting line-up is a little unsettled itself, so might struggle on a turning pitch too. However, with all things considered, we would still back India to win.
