Australia got out of jail against South Africa in their first match of the Super 12s and came away with a much-needed win. Their second game in Group A sees them take on Sri Lanka and a win will take them that one step closer to a spot in the semi-finals. The Sri Lankans also had a difficult match against Bangladesh, but some brilliant batting down the order helped them to chase down a tricky target with a lot of ease. So, who will go on to win this match and pick up their second win? Read this T20 World Cup prediction and find out!

Australia Team Preview

Australia will be happy that this match is being played in Dubai because this is a surface where the ball will come onto the bat more. The spinners, like at all venues in the UAE, will play their part in this game, but we think their impact will be muted when compared to some other venues at this World Cup.

Glenn Maxwell will be Australia's biggest threat in this match as he is coming into this game off the back of some great IPL form. His battle against the Sri Lanka spin bowlers is definitely going to be a tasty one, and we cannot wait to see how it will play out.

Overall, though, Australia's batting lineup will need to do much better than they did against South Africa. The likes of David Warner and Aaron Finch have been out of nick for a while now and Steve Smith is great at Test and ODI cricket, but the T20 format really is not his strongest format. On the other hand, Mitchell Marsh is a bit of a wildcard and someone that we would be tempted to bet on when it comes to the Top Batsman market. He has the ability and the power to score against spin bowlers.

They have a fantastic bowling attack, there is no doubt about that. Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins will bowl fast at the Sri Lankan batsmen, while Adam Zampa and Maxwell will be their spinners. No matter what type of conditions are in play, this Australian attack definitely has what it takes to cause plenty of issues.

Sri Lanka Team Preview

Sri Lanka played out of their skin to get a win against Bangladesh, and this is a result that would have given them plenty of confidence. The batting performance from Charith Asalanka and Bhanuka Rajapaksa was outstanding and showed the cricketing world what the Sri Lanka team is capable of. However, whether the Sri Lankan batsmen will perform like this against a much better bowling attack is quite questionable.

In the past, fast bowling is something that has caused Sri Lanka batsmen plenty of issues, and we would not bet on this changing in this game.

The Sri Lanka bowling attack will have a big role to play if they want their team to be competitive in this match. Lahiru Kumara can bowl with a lot of pace and could get a couple of early wickets, while Wanindu Hasaranga and Maheesh Theekshana will provide a challenge to the Aussies in the middle overs. There is a possibility that Akila Danajaya might get a game to exploit any weakness that the Aussie batsmen might have against spin.

Toss Prediction

The team that goes on to win the toss will most likely want to bowl first. Only one team has lost in the Super 12 stage after having won the toss, and that was Bangladesh, who were humbled by a very strong England team. This shows you just how much of an advantage it is to win the toss. Therefore, you should wait until after the coin toss before you place any bets.

Pitch and Conditions

The Dubai conditions have been pretty good - the side that bats first gets a decent surface that is quite flat but a bit slow. The dew then settles in during the second innings, and batting becomes much easier, which is why the team that is chasing has won 12 of the last 13 matches that have been played here.

Our Match Predictions

We are going to go ahead and put our money on Australia to win this game, but we recommend you keep some money handy for a bit of live betting. The odds are currently completely in favour of the Aussies, but this will change throughout the game, and you should get some better odds to take advantage of. The superior bowling attack that Australia has is the reason why we think that they will go on to win this game.
