The warm-up matches and the first stage of the 2021 T20 World are complete, and now it is time for the Super 12 stage. In this match, we have England taking on the West Indies, and the latter are probably the most inconsistent and dangerous team in the tournament. They may have lost their two warm-up games, but they never really looked interested in playing in them. Who will go on to win this important match? Keep on reading and find out.
England Team Preview
England played really well in both their warm-up games, although they lost the first one to India, and they will be the favourites to win this one. This England team has a very powerful and strong batting unit, but there are some vital questions that they need to answer ahead of this game.
For example, will Dawid Malan, the number one ranked T20 batsman in the world, find a spot in the team? Will Eoin Morgan be able to drop himself for the good of his side? In what positions will Jonny Bairstow bat? For this first group match against the West Indies, we are going to predict that Morgan will play, Malan will sit out in favour of Moeen Ali, and Bairstow will bat at four or five.
England have a really good bowling attack too - they will attack the West Indian batsmen with the pace from Tymal Mills and Mark Wood. In the spin department, they have Adil Rashid and Liam Livingstone, two very capable spin bowlers. Then, for the final spot, it will be between Chris Jordan and Chris Woakes, with the former probably getting the nod due to his death bowling skills.
West Indies Team Preview
The West Indies do not look at all interested in their warm-up matches, but we expect them to increase their intensity for the proper competition. They have a very dangerous lineup and many of their players have spent a lot of time in the UAE during the 2021 Indian Premier League. The likes of Shimron Hetmeyer, Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Chris Gayle, and Andre Russell will all be in the playing eleven. When it comes to six-hitting, there is no team that can compete with the West Indies.
The spin bowlers in the squad are Hayden Walsh and Akeal Hossain, while Ravi Rampaul and Obed McCoy will be the fast bowlers. Players such as Pollard, Russel, and Dwayne Bravo can chip in with some overs too.
Toss Prediction
The captain that wins the toss will probably opt to field first. This will be quite the advantage because there is a chance that dew will fall in the second half of the match, which can make it very tricky to defend a total. This is something that you should take into account when you are thinking about placing a bet.
Pitch Conditions
The conditions that you will find in Dubai are pretty distinct from those that you find in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. The pitch offers assistance to both the spinners and the fast bowlers, and there is plenty of bounce. At the start of the match, it is good to bat on and then it starts to slow down a bit as the innings comes to an end. There is one short side, so the batsmen will definitely be targeting this area. A score of about 160 is par when batting first.
Our Match Predictions
We are going to put our money on England to go ahead and win this match. Both of these sides are quite evenly matched and have their own match winners. England have a number of selection questions that they need to answer, but we think that their bowling attack is superior and will help them get the better of a dangerous batting lineup. The strategy and planning that England apply during every match should also be a big factor, especially when the West Indies is a team that seems to play more on instinct than anything else.
