The 2021 T20 World Cup was a competition that many thought would be dominated by Asian teams, but after the Super 12s Stage there only Pakistan is left. They have won all of their games to date and have waltzed into the semi-finals. They will take on Australia in what will not be an easy match for the Pakistan side, despite how well they have been playing. So, who will go on to win this semi-final and book a place in the final alongside New Zealand? Read this T20 match prediction and all will be revealed!
Pakistan Team Preview
Pakistan have dominated every match that they have played in at this World Cup, and everything seems to be going their way at the moment. Babar Azam has been on fire with the bat and has equalled the record for the most fifties scored in one edition of the T20 World Cup, while Shoaib Malik has just smashed the fastest fifty for Pakistan. To add to this, their bowling attack has been the best in the competition.
However, Pakistan have not really been tested against extreme pace in this competition, and this is definitely what they will face when they come up against Australia. If Pakistan can manage to navigate the new ball, then Mohammad Hafeez, Fakhar Zaman, and Malik will be able to boss the Aussie spinners. Asif Ali can strike huge sixes, so he might be the one tasked with attacking the slower Australian bowlers.
Their bowling attack is in really good shape too - it has death bowling expertise, pace, experience, and spin options. Their only true weak link is probably Hasan Ali, while Shadab Khan might be put under some pressure from Glenn Maxwell.
Australia Team Preview
Australia entered this tournament with plenty of issues, so the fact that they are only one win away from playing in the final is an achievement for them already. We do not think that this is a poor Australian team, and we think they can certainly give Pakistan a run for their money. The biggest asset that the Aussie team has is their bowling attack which includes the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Adam Zampa will give the Pakistani batsmen a good test.
However, the main issue they will face is getting the runs that they need to win the game. Aaron Finch and David Warner are in pretty good form, but the rest of them are a bit sketchy. Steve Smith and Mitchell Marsh share the number three spot, while Maxwell has not got enough batting time out in the middle. The batting unit is what could let Australia down in this match.
Toss Prediction
The team that is lucky enough to win the toss will want to bowl first and this will be a huge advantage. You might find it hard to believe but all of the matches apart from one has been won by the team that has won the coin toss and opted to bowl first.
Pitch Conditions
The conditions will be very good for playing cricket in, and the pitch will probably be quite flat and good for scoring on. There will be some early bounce and movement that both sides will be looking to exploit. They will probably be a bit cautious in the powerplay and then attack after. We feel that a score of 160 is par for the team that bats first.
Our Match Prediction
We are going to put our money on Pakistan to win this game. They have the momentum, hunger, and a drive to win. They are covered in all facets of their game and only some sort of batting collapse will see them lose this match. There is a chance that this will happen given Australia's bowling attack. However, we still think Pakistan will have enough to book a spot in the final against New Zealand.
