We are nearing the halfway point of the tournament and the two groups in the Super 12s stage are starting to take shape. In what is perceived by many cricket fans to be the group of death, England are currently looking like strong favourites to top the group. They have beaten Bangladesh and the West Indies and are looking in brilliant form. On the other hand, these two teams are on the brink of being eliminated, and whoever loses this match will be all but out. So, who will go on to get a precious two points? Read this T20 World cup prediction and see what we think.

West Indies Team Preview

Before the tournament started, many had the West Indies down as one of the dark horses to go ahead and lift the trophy. However, after two games, they have not played like dark horses and could end up being the first team to get eliminated from the Super 12s stage.

As things stand, the West Indies sit at the bottom of Group A with two defeats and 0 points. Also, they are at an additional disadvantage because they have a really dismal Net Run Rate of -2.550, which is mostly down to the fact that they were completely destroyed by England in their first match, being bowled out for a paltry 55. So, not only do they need points on the board, but they need to win quickly to try and improve their NRR.

However, they have not been in the best of form lately. They have, to their credit, not been bad with the ball, but their batsmen have let them down. Given how badly they have batted in the first two games, we think that they will make a couple of changes to their playing XI. For example, we thought Lendl Simmons batted too slowly in their last game, so we might see Chris Gayle shunted up the order and Simmons replaced by Roston Chase. This change will not just improve their batting, but he is also a decent bowler too.

On paper, the West Indies have a team that should love this format. With the likes of Gayle, Evin Lewis, Kieron Pollard, Nicholas Pooran, and Shimron Hetmeyer, they can rack up some big totals. However, none of these batsmen have been on form so far in this competition and have got themselves out playing stupid shots.

The West Indies side might not have looked like a good team yet, but we all know that they have the firepower that is needed to turn things around.

Bangladesh Team Preview

Unlike the West Indies, Bangladesh have shown flashes of their brilliance in the bowling and batting department, but they have not been consistent enough in order to get some points under their belt. Their first Super 12s game was against Sri Lanka, and their batsmen did a really good job to rack up a decent total, but their bowlers failed to help them defend it.

As things currently stand in the table, Bangladesh are occupying fifth spot with zero points and a really poor Net Run Rate of -0.1665. This poor NRR is because of their dismal showing in their last match, where they lost to a really strong England team by eight wickets and with nearly six overs to spare.

We think that Bangladesh will make a few changes to their batting lineup for this match. Litton Das has been poor at the top of the order and we would not be surprised to see him replaced for this must-win match. Additionally, they will need to improve on their fielding because this was one of the reasons why they ended up losing to Sri Lanka.

Overall, they have a pretty decent side that will look to take advantage of the favourable conditions, but obviously it all depends on how they execute their plans in this match. They do not have any big hitters in their batting lineup and this could prove to be the difference because this is a ground that has short boundaries. If Bangladesh can get a big score on the board if they have to bat first, then they have the bowlers to defend it. If you want to place a bet on the best bowler for Bangladesh, then we would recommend that you opt for Shakib Al Hasan.

Toss Prediction

The captain that wins the coin toss will probably opt to field first because it it not that easy to set a total on the wicket at the Sharjah Stadium. More often than not the matches that are played here are won by the team that bats second.

Pitch Conditions

The pitch will be helpful to spin bowlers and it will not be an easy wicket to score on. Therefore, if you are thinking about betting on how many fours and sixes will be hit, we would recommend you bet on whatever the "Under" option is. The team that has to bat first should aim for at least 150.

Our Match Prediction

This is a very important game because the losing team can forget about making it through to the semi-finals. Both of these teams have had similar issues, and win in this game might give the winners the kick-start that they need. Bangladesh do appear to have played better so far in this competition, but the West Indies do have a better team and should be able to take advantage of the short boundaries at this stadium. As a result, we are going to put our money on the West Indies to win.
